This research project and installation explores the uneasy relationship between human intervention and natural coastal erosion in Dungeness, UK. Drawing from embodied research with the Environment Agency’s shingle replenishment scheme, where over 70 lorries move shingle along the coastline each day; the work reflects on the collision between deep geological time and the urgent, futile effort to stabilise a constantly shifting landscape.
Combining 3D scans, sound recordings, archival material, and experimental film techniques, the project interrogates how our human scales of time shape our understanding of the climate crisis. Moving between documentary and abstracted media, we invite viewers to experience the tension between information and a more embodied sensory experience, in the face of ongoing environmental change.
In collaboration with interdisciplinary artists and designers Britney Lee, Caius Sharpe, Jessica Wonomihardjo & Clau Sanchez
