Touch Space is a research project born from the COVID-19 pandemic, exploring how the individualization of risk and heightened suspicion of others reflects broader neoliberal and biopolitical trends that erode communal care. Drawing on historical “pox parties,” the project challenges social distancing and hygienic norms, inviting participants into a shared microbiome space where touch becomes a site of collective responsibility and a radical reconsideration of herd immunity as an active, communal practice.
