ArtAngel x CCA

A curatorial project developed with Artangel, revisiting the socio-cultural legacy of Jeremy Deller’s The Battle of Orgreave (2001). The exhibition explored how archival voices resurface in contemporary contexts, questioning how narratives return transformed by time, amplified or disrupted.

New commissions included Phoebe Davies’s Farm Hand, a moving image and print installation reflecting on agricultural labour and generational knowledge in the Welsh lowlands, and Gülce Tulçalı’s Present Archive, a participatory work inviting audiences to engage with a curated audio archive including testimonies about the National Miner's Strikes of the 1980s. A podcast with Matshidiso (Holding Up the Ladder) further extended the project’s discursive strands.
