Cloakroom Now Open @ The Rose Lipman Building

CLOAKROOM NOW OPEN
Commissioned for Hackney Art Week 2026

A site-specific exhibition and performance by Katie King, curated by Indy Calland, exploring the absurdities, rituals and fragile social contracts that shape our experience of civic space. Staged in the former cloakroom of Hackney’s Rose Lipman Building, the project draws on the building’s history as a community centre and library, using the cloakroom as a lens through which to examine institutional trust, collective behaviour and the strange ceremonies of public life.

Featuring textile works, archival and semiotic research, animation and a neverending ribbon-cutting ceremony
